This course is the only Concealed Only Handgun Carry Permit Course designed specifically for WOMEN civilians who are interested in carrying a handgun for personal protection in the state of Tennessee and beyond. Just like all SFWA courses, it is a "His and Her's" appropriate environment where the men also enjoy the highly successful hands-on teaching style that results in 90-100% of our students landing exceptional scores in the class. Plus, there are inspirational messages and tips and techniques women enjoy throughout.
The course fulfills the requirements of Tenn. Code Ann. ยง 39-17-1366 to apply for a Concealed Only Handgun Carry Permit in the State of Tennessee and we have designed the class in such a way to permit us to meet the unique needs of each participant. Because this permit does not require live-fire qualification, those who are already proficient with a handgun for self-defense can complete this course requirements in 3 hours instead of the 8 hour requirement of the Enhanced Carry Permit course. After the 3 hour class, we offer those who would like to learn more about how to shoot well hands-on individual instruction with live-fire. And, also the ability to get custom fit for a handgun that you are most-likely to retain in a fight for your life and increase the odds you will prevail in a self-defense encounter. Best of all, you can apply for your permit and be more confident in your journey to a more empowered lifestyle while experiencing the ability to carry your permit in the same states that accept the Enhanced carry permit [with the exception of Siberia America, aka: Nebraska] and you will be able to carry in Louisiana, too! [The "Enhanced" carry permit is NOT accepted in Louisiana.]

This online course does not require you to go to a range and qualify with a handgun to be issued the Certificate of Completion. This is an in-person hands-on course. The Concealed ONLY Permit is accepted just like the Enhanced permit; but you will be required to carry the gun concealed from view and not on school property. The Concealed ONLY Permit is actually accepted in one state where the Enhanced permit is not: Louisiana!
SFWA's In-Person Concealed Only TN Carry Permit Course is easy to pass for beginners as well as those more experienced with a handgun. You will enjoy short quizzes along the way to assure that you know the answers required to pass the course. No worries, we make it enjoyable so that the 3 hours of course time goes by quickly; and upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion suitable for framing! Plus, with the in-person class you can assure your questions are answered along the way, unlike an online class version and just watching videos.
This in-person course covers the current Tennessee Law, reciprocity and other requisite subjects associated with handgun safety practices and procedures, including the safe cleaning, storage and proper use of handguns. Plus, accurate marksmanship basics, and other considerations for selection of the best gear and gun to carry for personal protection.

SFWA has been offering Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit Classes for FREE and by donation, since 2008! We have helped tens-of-thousands of women, and men who accompany them, pass both the written exam and live-fire requirements of the course necessary to apply for an enhanced permit to carry a firearm for personal protection. However, once doing the research and in a desire to meet the needs of our students in a more custom manner, SFWA is no longer offering the Enhanced permit course and is moving forward now only offering this in person course for women (and men) which is designed in the same woman-friendly presentation . . . quite a few thousand women and men have now chosen this 3 hour [vs 8 hour] hands-on course!
It just makes better sense when it comes to getting a permit to carry a handgun as a Tennessee resident.
The choice is yours, there are benefits to both depending on the circumstances and will depend on the places in which you intend to carry your gun for personal protection in Tennessee and beyond. For example: Residents of the state of Tennessee are welcome to carry open or concealed WITHOUT a permit [aka: Constitutional Carry]; but unless you have a handgun permit, you are prohibited from carrying in the state and national parks, on greenways [which often are located within city-limits and urban areas], and on waterways [including rivers, lakes and streams]*. Whereas the Concealed Only Permit will permit you to carry in those prohibited areas as long as you do so in a manner where others cannot see your handgun. Plus, you may carry when traveling in all states [but one: Nebraska] that honor the Enhanced permit via reciprocity nationwide. Honestly, carrying concealed is smarter anyway, and for those limited times you may want to carry open, you may do so as a resident of Tennessee anyway* without a permit.
